Hearing Loss

Our integrated team of Audiological Medicine and in-house Hearing  professionals  can treat your hearing loss and provide the support you need to live life to it’s fullest again.

Are you experiencing hearing difficulties?

You rely on your ability to hear in a variety of different situations in order to be able to communicate easily with those around you and probably don’t think twice about your hearing unless and until you start to have problems. You may have found you have difficulty hearing in background noise such as in crowds or with the television or even in one-to-one situations when there are other things going on. You may feel that this difficulty hearing has stayed at the same level over a period of time or seems to be getting worse over time or that you are becoming increasingly anxious and embarrassed about your ability to hear in certain situations and environments and actively avoid them. You may have found yourself becoming more and more isolated and left out of conversations with family and friends and dread going out, meeting others – even family and friends because you feel you can’t hear.

If you think this describes you or your loved one, then please read on:

Some Essential Background Information:

Conditions affecting any part of the  hearing system from the outer ear all the way through to the brain centres can be diagnosed and managed by our fully integrated team.

There are many different medically recognised causes of hearing loss.

Dr Surenthiran is qualified and experienced in the diagnosis and management of all hearing disorders, whether they arise within the inner ears, the nerves supplying it or conditions within the hearing / auditory pathways and structures within the brain. Although there is no magic cure for hearing loss or difficulties, he will be able to make a diagnosis, organise the appropriate investigations, outlined the basic physiology of hearing and use this to give you an understanding of why you are experiencing difficulty with your hearing as well as the underlying medical condition causing it and the treatment options available so that you have a better understanding of your difficulties, why you have the problems you do and giving you the information you need so you can make an informed choice about treatment options.

Dr Surenthiran specialises exclusively in the diagnosis and treatment of all inner ear and brain conditions causing hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness and giddiness and has the post-graduate training, in-depth knowledge, expertise and experience to do so.

He has seen on average 60 to 70 patients a week with hearing loss, tinnitus and balance disorders in a tertiary Neuro-otology / Balance Centre setting and is regularly referred patients not only from around the UK but also from all over the world.
